Juliet Perello
Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP), Supervised by Shirley Nedock LPC-S, In-person & Telehealth
Buenas! My name is Juliet Perello, and I am currently in the final year of my M.A. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at St. Mary’s University. I earned my B.S. in Psychology from Texas A&M University–San Antonio and am certified as a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor Intern.
Having grown up within a Hispanic heritage, I am bilingual (English/Spanish), which allows me to reach and serve a broader population. I am also deeply interested in cultural diversity, particularly in family dynamics, expectations, and societal norms, and how these may conflict with the values of today’s generations. Through my work with the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, I have gained an understanding of the hardships and struggles experienced by both individuals and families affected by incarceration and parole. I am particularly drawn to cognitive behavioral therapy and reality/choice-based approaches to treatment; however, I believe that various theoretical methods and interventions can be integrated with CBT to best meet each client’s specific needs.
As a mother of four and grandmother of nine, I bring valuable life experience, empathy, patience, and acceptance to my work with vulnerable populations, including LGBTQ+ individuals, minorities, and those living with mental health disorders. I value lifelong learning and embrace the opportunity to grow every day, no matter your age.
